Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 Suite is the third version of Microsoft's solution for high performance computing (HPC). Built on Windows Server2008 R2 64-bit technology Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 Suite makes it easier than ever for companies to benefit from high-performance computing. Designed as a complete integrated platform for cluster based computing Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 includes both a streamlined version of Windows Server (Windows Server 2008 R2 HPC Edition) and the HPC Pack which includes a complete integrated set of tools for running high performance compute clusters.

Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 Suite allows you to use familiar applications like Excel, System Center and Visual Studio while integrating with an existing current Linux HPC infrastructure. This integration enables organisations to take advantage of existing technology investments and employee skill sets to minimise TCO, optimise ROI, and make HPC resources easier to manage, augment and extend to end users.

Delivering outstanding performance, Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 Suite efficiently scales to thousands of processing cores enabling organisations of all sizes to rapidly harness the power of supercomputing to solve complex computational challenges. The Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 suite provides an all encompassing package with out-of- the-box support for deploying, running and managing clusters consisting of thousands of processing cores.

Key features include high speed networking, highly efficient and scalable cluster management tools, advanced fail over capabilities, a services oriented architecture (SOA) job scheduler and support for partners clustered file systems. Windows HPC Server 2008 R2 can also expand the capacity of HPC clusters by adding computers running Windows 7 as workstation nodes.
